From near and far, they come together in holy communion to share a bounty of sweet nectar. They are not all the same color. They are not all the same size. Some sport waists round and thick as a snowman, and large, stubby translucent wings; others have waists thin as a needle, with long, narrow translucent wings, or soft cylindrical bodies hidden under large, colorful, velvety wings. These flighty creatures of the class Insecta share the gift of having wings, but little else. And yet they come together to celebrate the blooming of Mountain mint with no fights, no hoarding, no hustling, no exclusion. There is plenty for all, and they share. ~K
