WINTER at last.

A round-the-clock rain slows in the middle of the night, stops, and atmosphere changes. The sky clears, and the sharp pinpoint lights of stars in northwest sky are dimmed by a high, round, very bright moon. Black tree shadows lay outlined against the sodden ground like fallen timber, but above, the trees themselves are silvered by moonlight. Wind pushes through trees like a beast unleashed, hard against the thick band of clouds drifting slowly eastward. Another day will see a blanket of ephemeral snow; next week more rain sweeps our way, propelled by a restless jet stream, followed by another chance of snow. These memories are uploading to that storage part of my brain, for future days, I trust. ~K
